| Forum Feedback | The forum got high marks. See evaluation summary. People clearly want the opportunity to share information and network. What has happened since? | Ask "Have you used any of what you learned at the Forum?" in the next newsletter. |
| Website | We agreed that the website is only one piece of the communications strategy. It must be complemented by the newsletter with links to the site, and most important, personal contact and stories. | Ruth will add a stories page; those present will add stories and encourage others to add theirs. |
| Role of the Alliance | This discussion was interwoven throughout the meeting. Ed Lawson captured it most clearly toward the end of the meeting when he said that we need to be focused on building the capacity of Hudson Valley organizations to strengthen fatherhood. | Continue to evolve a vision and mission |
| Input from fathers | Both the forum evaluations and this meeting's participants felt that we need to include the voice of fathers we serve in the planning and conversations. At the same time, since we are not meeting to provide direct service, participant-fathers couldn't focus on their personal needs (Shari said it better.) | Outreach to service providers who are fathers to participate Ask service providers to consider who among their clients might be good fathers to invite for specific or on-going conversations. |
| Next steps | The group concluded that rather than send out a survey, we would continue the conversations begun at the forum with a weekly series of conversations this fall. Here's a tentative plan: The conversations (or work groups) would be open to everyone and pick up on the forum workgroups. They would be opportunities to share resources, invite a speaker, have a panel, whatever seems needed. At the end of the session, participants will decide what the next step should be (if anything). Notes and recordings of the sessions can be posted. |

| Engaging fathers | Nationwide, engaging fathers has been a challenge. Jack observed that as he works with community groups, they are all women. Donna noted that when she advertises a position, male candidates are rare. Several tools to assess the "Father-friendliness" of agencies have been developed and are available on the web. The body of research on engaging fathers is slowly growing. |

| Fatherhood Lending Library of Resources | As we discussed resources, the idea emerged to have a real and virtual lending library of books, videos, sample curriculum, etc. re fatherhood and parenting. Through the Federal fatherhood grant ChildFind has already begun to accumulate materials. We can also benefit from ChildFind's location in the South East NY Library Resource Center (SENYLRC) building, we can probably count on their advice. |

| Getting the word out | Some groups were missing from the Forum and need outreach as we move forward:

| Next meeting | We'll use Meeting Wizard to determine the best date for the next meeting in about a month. Please respond quickly so people don't have to hold the dates. Meeting Wizard is another free tool that organizations can use to simplify life. | When you receive the message, click on the link, identify the dates you can't make, add any comments. We'll select the date that works for the most people and send a confirmation |
| Philosophical last word | Bob shared the advice he uses in all he does | "Live the change you want to see in the world."-- Mahatma Gandhi |
| Attendance: Donna Linder, Martha Allers, Shari Doherty, Ed Lawson, Susan Grecke, Ray Tomaselli, Bob Wurtzel, Jack Bennett, Ruth Wahtera | ||
